Quick Custom Dropship Price Setting Updates With Bulk Price Tool

Do you have a Black Friday or other holiday sale coming up?  Would you like to be more competitive on some of your newest items or a few best sellers while allowing a larger margin for the rest of your items?  You can easily use your InventorySource.com tools to control prices in bulk, as well as product specific price markups, for a fully customized pricing strategy and we will update your dropship product price approach for you everyday while protecting your margins and price change issues from your wholesale supplier.

Lets say the new iPhone5 cases come in or later the iPhone6 (I am in line for that now) cases.  We can automatically upload these items so you are one of the first stores online with these items in stock, but with everyone looking to add a new case for their newest phone once its launched, you might want to beat the competition on 20 or 30 skus without dropping all prices on all sales channels.  You can use our Bulk Price Override Tool to make your wholesale pricing adjustments in a jiffy!

Also, when your supplier provides MAP in their feed we can always help you remain MAP compliant, but what if your supplier has some MAP items, but they do not provide MAP values in their product data feed?  If you are selling dropship items on Amazon, and get a notice from the brand, you can simply import a list of changes to your tool for multiple skus in seconds without any need to worry about your price values going forward.  Again, keep in mind, we will always help you remain MAP compliant when that information is provided by the wholesale product supplier, but if they are not able to provide or stay current with MAP on their end this tool will still be a great asset for your quick custom price controls.

To access the bulk pricing product tool:
1. Log in to your InventorySource.com account.
2. In the Existing Price Settings section of your dashboard, click “edit” to the right of supplier feed or file you want to update.
3. Then click on the “Edit Price Overrides” link.
4. From there, at the bottom, click on “Upload file to add Price Overrides in bulk”.
Here are some handy instructions on how to create this file:

When Using any plain text editor (such as notepad, textpad, or any other plain text editor):

1. Create a new file.
2. Type the first SKU you want to set a price override for.
3. Type comma (,) and then type the price to set it to, ie. 4999.99
IMPORTANT: Do not include commas or any special characters ($) in the price.  You will not want to write “$4,999.99” for example.  Do NOT worry, we have checks and alerts if you forget this format rule, and can resolve most of these concerns with your import process.  It will not cause you any issues, but its best to take note of this format need before you get started.
4. Press enter and repeat this process for the other SKUs.
5. Save the file with the name “import.csv” (OK…the name before the CSV does not really matter but we wanted to give some example so you don’t sit trying to think of something to call it for an hour.)

When Using a spreadsheet program (Microsoft Excel, Open Office Spreadsheet, or LibreOffice Calc.):

1. Create a new file.
2. Save your file as “import.csv” and confirm that there won’t be any added functionality of other formats.
3. In the first column and first row, type in the SKU to override.
4. In the second column first row, type in the price WITHOUT commas or special characters ($) as noted above in the text editor example.
5. Follow this process for all SKUs you are setting a price override for.
6. Save your completed import.csv file.

It is important to note that when creating a file, it you will not need  a comma anywhere other than between the two rows (in a spreadsheet program like Excel or Open Office it will add this separator for you so you do not need to add a common in each cell).

The price that is input into the file is a fixed price; this is the exact price the product will be on your site or sales channel. If you want a custom margin added to a few items so its applied as the wholesale cost goes up or down, you can still use the product price override search and price tool to edit one product at a time instead of the CSV import.

Remember to always save the file as import.csv (or inventory_source_is_amazing.csv, etc.) once all of the SKU’s have been entered.  Then go back to your Price override tool in your InventorySource.com account. Click the browse button under “Add price overrides” and select the import.csv file that was just created. Click “Upload”. This will add these SKUs to the price override tool.

In short, if you want to apply a few specific prices to a set of items in bulk and quickly, just make a 2 column file with SKU and the PRICE and import it to this tool.  It will work for you without issue or let you know if you missed a step.  If you get stuck on your dropship price change, just send us the file you tried and we are happy to help!

Increasing sales, better competition on the newest/hottest items for a few weeks, rapid MAP pricing adjustments, more custom control, dropping the price for a few items from the same brand or categories while promoting related items with a higher margin…these are just a few reasons you might want to use this override tool from time to time. With your InventorySource.com account tools,  you can control your price strategy as needed across any live sales channel in seconds.  For those dropship resellers who want even more custom controls our solutions are still perfect as your Product Price Override tool can be controlled for one item at a time, or with a simple CSV import to add special pricing markups for certain items as needed.

Inventory Source helps you sell more and work less with easy to use custom product data controls and automated services.
